| Tiger Sharks swim strong at Magnus Specialty meet
Twenty-one swimmers from the Greater Manchester YMCA Tiger Sharks swim team competed at the Magnus Aquatics Specialty meet held from November 6 to November 8, at the Greater Lawrence Technical School, in Lawrence, MA.
In the 8 & under age group, Alex Tjie of Bedford captured second place in the 25 Freestyle and sixth in the 50 Freestyle. Julian Chun of Bedford placed sixth in the 25 Breaststroke and seventh in the 25 Freestyle. Dwight Childers of Henniker, Brandon Campbell of Goffstown and Dillon Campbell of Goffstown all achieved personal best times. In the girls events, Emma Schulman of Bedford swam personal best times in each of her events and Abby Tjie of Bedford swam a personal best time in the 25 Backstroke.
Nina Levine of Bedford had an outstanding meet, placing first in nine of her twelve events. Nina took over 25 seconds off of her previous best time in the 500 Freestyle. She also knocked over 8 seconds off her previous best time in the 100 Breaststroke and over 10 seconds off her previous best time in the 200 I.M. Lydia Barrett of Goffstown achieved personal best times in each of her four events, including chopping close to four seconds off of her previous best time in the 50 Freestyle. Gordon Suwirjo of Derry, placed ninth in the 100 Freestyle, besting his previous time by over four seconds. Gordon also placed twelfth in the 200 Freestyle, lopping over seventeen seconds off his previous time.
In the 13-14 year old girls age group, Eva Childers of Henniker placed fifth in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events. Childers also placed seventh in both the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Breaststroke. Sarah Barrett of Goffstown placed eighth in the 100 Freestyle. In the boys events, Greg Levine of Bedford brought home second place in the 200 Butterfly and fourth place in four events, including the 200 I.M., the 100 Butterfly and the 200 Backstroke. Elliot Chun of Bedford had another strong meet, swimming personal best times in each of his four events, including cutting over 25 seconds of his previous best time in the 200 Breaststroke.
Other Tiger Shark swimmers who achieved personal best times include: Sarah Barrett, Anita Childers, Howard DePaiva, Georgia Dubois, Katherine Dubois, Emily Favreau and Chandler Tramposch.
